    Yes and no. Diathermy refers to the use of high-frequency electromagnetic currents to produce heat in body tissues; hyfrecation is a type of surgical diathermy that uses high-frequency alternating current delivered through a small electrode tip to produce localized tissue destruction. So, all hyfrecation is diathermy, but not all diathermy is hyfrecation.

    Is the hyfrecator the same as the coagulation machine (diathermy)?
